How to Handle a Heckler

featuring specific techniques such as

  • Maintain control at comedy stores by applying comedic pressure to the heckler, or applying indirect pressure to whom he’s with (like his wife)
  • Ease up on maintaining control at corporate speeches
  • Making a connection by learning before hand what conflicts or cliches are ripe for cracking jokes, then using those to move your speech along past a heckler’s yell
  • Thanking someone who yells something out, calling him your “speech writer,” and moving on
